Clyde Wheeler Barton, MD

Clyde Wheeler Barton M.D. of Tulsa, OK, age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 with his family by his side.

Clyde was born to Don and Eula (Wheeler) Barton on August 28, 1932 in Mangum, OK. Clyde grew up in southwest Oklahoma, graduated from Mangum High School, then went to Southwestern State College to pursue a degree that would prepare him for medicine. He accomplished his life-long ambition and was accepted to OU College of Medicine in 1954. 

While at Southwestern Oklahoma State College, Clyde met Bonnie Strickland where she was pursuing a degree in elementary education. Bonnie & Clyde were married May 29, 1955. He completed his medical degree and Bonnie taught school. Clyde joined the Air Force in 1960, was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas where he was placed in the women's care department delivering babies. He learned to enjoy this field of medicine and that experience ultimately lead him to the field of OB/GYN. 

Clyde was preceded in death by parents Don Barton & Eula Wheeler Barton: sisters, Juanita Patrick and Sue Boyd; brother-in-laws, Pat Patrick and Ben Boyd. Clyde is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Bonnie; children, Phil (Tracy) Barton, Bruce (Kami) Barton, John (Deb) Barton, Barbara (Eric) Markert. grandchildren, Matt (Jordan) Barton, Dan Barton, Mike Barton, Emily Barton, Conrad Markert and Joy Markert. Clyde was looking forward to the arrival of his first great grandson in April 2024.
